MAKING DECISIVE DECISIONS

As youngsters we get the odd occasional puzzle where we are told to join dots and make a complete picture from the dots we see. While we look for each dot that draws us nearer to the full image, we get a buzz of excitement, a feeling of accomplishment at each point we get to. It is the same on the football field.

Each pass we see from one player to the other en route to the goal line makes it more and more exciting to watch as it progresses through the opposition defence. Each pass, each move is a decision that we all have to make as we march towards our desired target. And then the final decision is the one that actually strikes gold. It is the one we call the Decisive Decision. It is the clincher.

But to get to the big clincher, the small decisions – the passes that lead to the striker; the small dots in the puzzle before the final one – have to be right. And when we are able to get the small ones right, the final one is always a true winner, which is what we all want.
