BUILDING A REPUTATION TOWARDS SUCCESS

Building a reputation through the work you do.

Everyone is known for being good (exceptional well) for one thing.

It could be Football (like myself) or something entirely different.

For you to be known, know exactly that which you are exceptional about.

And this is where KTA (Knowledge, Tactics and Action) comes in.

Knowledge: What are you exceptionally good at? What do people know you for?

Tactics: What steps have you taken to become exceptional at what you do? What strategy do you have to becoming an expert at your given subject?

Action: What action are you taking on branding yourself as an expert on the field? I mean, what actions are you taking to ensure that what you are good at that you know, is noticed by those who need to know it, to enable them make decisions that favour you, and lead you to success?

Don’t flounder. When you know your forte, people would respect you the more for it.

One day, I visited my doctor.(He’s a general practitioner). Having complained of a pain in my eye, he examined me and said he would like to refer me to another general practitioner in the same practice, who knew more about eyes. This GP was not an optometrist or an eye surgeon of any sort. Apparently, she just had something about eyes within her, and her colleagues got to realise it from conversations and exchanges, and she became the automatic stop-gap between general practice and specialist, as she was able to offer a more informed preliminary opinion on what patients’ complaints before deciding if they needed more specialist attention.

That is the beauty of being consistent in knowledge, and building a reputation.

You can do the same. Develop a consistent approach to how you deal with tasks. Don’t be a Jack of all trades. Own your path. Make it yours.

In time, you would build a good reputation through the work you do.
