4 Do’s when it comes to achieving Promotion in the Workplace.
Achieving Promotion in the workplace comes from taking deliberate, strategic actions.
Here are four Do’s to note:
1. You have to be prepared and show Responsibility:
It’s not just enough to do your work well. You have to show preparedness and potential to achieve much more than you currently are doing – showing your superiors that there is more to you than your basic tasks.
2. Ability to mange others:
When you are moving from a mid level executive position to a senior level position, you want to show that you have the ability to manage people. This is because Promotion would involve you managing others. Thus, you want to show early on that you are well endowed to be able to manage people with calmness and maturity that leadership requires.
3. You want to show you can be the eyes & ears of your boss
This doesn’t mean you should gossip and backbite your colleagues. It simply means you should show how much you value the business and treat it like you own it. Sometimes, you may need to work overtime and that is fine. Putting that little bit of extra in shows a commitment that will be noted and rewarded. Protection of the principles of the business of your company, guarding it closely like if it was yours does the trick.
4. You must be able to show that you can drive people’s passion to work harder:
I would liken it to a football team. If your team is feeling down, passing the ball slowly and without desire, you sometimes need to be the leader that rouses in them the intensity to drive forward and attack and go for goal. You should be able to bring positive energy to the room. You should be able to impact others to take action, even when they are down.
I hope this helps you become better.
