SELF PROMOTION – THE LIMITATIONS

Self promotion is the ability to highlight your own strengths and capacity. Self promotion is a crucial skill in the workplace because it gives you visibility.

So how do you promote yourself in the workplace?

1. Do your KTA

Do your KTA carefully. Know your strengths. Know your weaknesses. Develop a personalised, bespoke strategy to promote yourself.

2. Become a team player

Being part of a team is a great way to highlight your strengths because that way, you will be given the opportunity to work in areas you are good at.

3. Give credit to everyone

It is very crucial to give credit to everyone who worked because in turn, they would be willing to sing your praises. It is like an halo effect. The more you praise others, the more skilled you seem and more light is shed on your capability.

4. Don’t give yourself all the platitudes

While it may be tempting to do so, don’t give yourself all the platitudes. Let other people see your good works and give them to you.

Do you find it hard promoting your achievements at work? Or you find it hard to find a place where to draw the line where you self-promote but it gets excessive?
