FIVE THINGS YOU CAN NOT DO IF SEEKING ADVANCEMENT AS AN EXECUTIVE TO TOP EXECUTIVE

1. Do NOT Disrespect people around you.

Everyone has an important role to play. Don’t belittle anyone no matter their current status in your company. It could boomerang on you one day in the long run.

2. Do NOT Isolate yourself.

Don’t isolate yourself as a top executive. If you restrict yourself, you will find it hard getting opportunities. If you have a problem, talk about it.

3. Do NOT be dishonest.

Your knowledge of your limits and talents would give you an edge. Do NOT be dishonest about the extent of your skills.

Remember KTA

On the football field, if a footballer hides the extent of his injuries, he would disappoint his team by not being able to perform properly. Thus, don’t lie about the extent of your skills.

4. Do NOT be discouraged.

In the course of your career journey, you would come across many ups & downs. What is crucial is that you don’t get discouraged. You may be disappointed, but don’t be discouraged.

5. Do NOT go into the workplace without direction.
When you think about it, even a small child doesn’t walk backwards. From a football perspective, when scoring goals you don’t play sideways. You are very intentional about directing the ball towards the net.

If your bosses see you have no direction, they will never promote you. Lack of direction could be very detrimental to your success.

In all, the workplace is very competitive and you have to make the decision to succeed in order to succeed.
